“Ontake Kodo” is a promenade where you can enjoy beautiful nature and the ancient beliefs

“Ontake Kodo” is the general term that refers to two mountain trails accessible from the east side (Kiso Town/Otaki Village, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture) to Kengamine. From the foothills to the middle of the mountain, you can enjoy trekking among the nature and culture with the symbols of the Ontake faith, the “Reijin’hi” monuments, the historical shrines, clear waterfalls, and beautiful forests.

Kurosawa Route from Gyoninbashi Pedestrian Bridge to Nakanoyu

This is an old road with total length of 26.8 km that starts from “Gyoninbashi Pedestrian Bridge” in Kiso and leads to “Nakanoyu” while experiencing the sacred culture.

This is an old road with a total length of 8.8 km that starts from the “Otaki Tourist Information Center” and leads to “Hakkaisan Shrine” while enjoying Ontake’s beautiful nature.

Preparation for Walking Ontake Kodo

The Ontake Kodo is an intense climb up Mt. Otake, with steep slopes and stairs.
Be well prepared for the walk, and you can enjoy the Ontake Kodo.

Sneakers that are easy to walk in (hiking shoes), sweat-absorbing innerwear, cold-resistant clothing, and long pants

Rain gear, plenty of water, high-energy/backpacking food, etc.
